I really enjoyed this book until nearly the end. Lilli was injured and her husband picked her up to carry down to the village presumably. Then it suddenly jumped to Lilli in labour. It sounded like the Editor had to shorten it and did it at random. I can't believe the author would have written it like this. What a shambles it made of a good book. If it was the Editor, then you ought to be ashamed that you let the author down. If it was the author, I would be speechless..

Overall I am glad this book was a free download and after reading it I can see why it was on the free list. I spent most of the book skimming, not really reading. Due to long, drawn out unnecessary repetitive details and backstories. I was just unable to "get into" the characters and story. Every time the author almost "had me" engrossed in the plot, I was let down . Scottish historical romance pieces like this are my guilty pleasure and books I normally love, regardless of writing style, but this one let me down. I will most likely not seek out other works by this author.

This book kept me hooked from start to finish. Which is rare for me . it takes a lot for me to stick to a book because a lot of them dont paint the picture so well. The twist of events made me so anxious to know what could happen next.
